Introduction to Tiny Products

Here's why I started working on small "tiny" products and what I hope to accomplish in the next year or two.

Hey, I'm Igor and I am a user experience designer, full stack software engineer and product manager (in that order).

I've always had a deep desire to design and build products that customers love. Time is ticking and I am growing frustrated with my progress so far. I've launched a few products before and failed to launch a dozen more.

I am determined to make progress on my goals.

But before I can run – I must learn how to walk. Before I ship something great, I need to learn how to ship consistently and repeatedly. I need a process.

For this reason, I am challenging myself to get in the habit of delivering small products. These are product ideas that take two to three months to implement while working a full time job.

I shared my vision with a few close friends until someone pointed me to this blog post. Since I'm essentially doing the same thing as Ben, I'm calling it "tiny products".

Here are my goals:

  1. Build the muscle for rapidly, reliably and repeatedly delivering products to market. Ship, ship, ship.
  2. Use the revenue I make from the effort to fund a Mazda MX-5 Miata.

The first goal is because real artists ship and the best artists are prolific. The second goal will help me move ahead when my love for product alone isn't enough to propel me forward.

The journey ahead will be treacherous, but there's a small roadster waiting for me at the end of the tunnel – and lots of smiles per gallon.

Welcome to the journey.
